Flat, Shredded Tire Leads To Homicide Charge For New London Man In Fiery Groton Bridge Crash
A Connecticut man has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with a fiery rollover crash last year that killed an oil tanker driver.
New London County resident Reginald Collins, age 59, of New London, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Wednesday, April 24, for the Friday, April 21, 2023, crash on I-95 in Groton.
According to an arrest affidavit, Collins was driving southbound on I-95 South on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge when his steering "felt funny," and the "car began to jump" on his Toyota Avalon. Collins had just purchased used tires for the vehicle.

Two people were injured in a five vehicle crash involving multiple means of transportation on I-80 in Morris County the early morning of Friday, April 19, authorities said.
At 1:03 a.m., a crash occurred between a Toyota passenger vehicle, Harley Davidson motorcycle, Ford SUV, Ford pickup truck and a tractor-trailer on Route 80 West in Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.

Police have released details and identified the victim killed in an I-95 in crash Prince William County early Monday, April 8.
Kenneth L. Combo, Jr., 59, of Leesburg, was heading north in a 1986 GMC pickup when he ran off the road left, struck the guardrail, overcorrected and then struck a northbound 2023 Kia Telluride around 3:30 a.m. near milepost 151 in Dumfries/Triangle, Virginia State Police said.
The GMC then rolled over twice, ejecting its passenger, 48-year-old Nora Butler, of Franklin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
