Swampscott Man Who Ripped Off Congolese Immigrants In Boston Headed To Jail: Prosecutor A Swampscott man will spend more than two years in jail after he pleaded guilty to ripping off after a court found that he had ripped off Congolese immigrants in Boston, authorities said. He must also repay what he reportedly stole. Boris Shadari, 46, pleaded guilty to a slew of fraud charges earlier this year, the Department of Justice said. Second Body Found On Carson Beach In South Boston: Police Authorities are investigating two deaths on Carson Beach after police found two bodies at different times at the South Boston spot. The first body was reported to Boston police just before 1:30 p.m. Boston firefighters pulled them out of the water near Mother's Rest Area, police said. Unprecedented: MBTA Will Shut Down Orange Line For 30 Days To Make Critical Repairs The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Board (MBTA) announced Wednesday, Aug. 3, that it plans to shut down the Orange Line, one of its busiest commuter rails, to perform critical infrastructure repair. Gov. Charlie Baker said the shutdown will begin on Aug. 19 and resume on September 19. This is the first time the MBTA has shut down an entire line, Baker said. Dog Shot By Central Massachusetts Police To Save Man's Life A pit bull dog was shot by police in central Massachusetts to save the life of a 75-year-old who was left seriously injured after the dog attacked him, authorities said. Lunenburg police arrived at the town's animal control center just before noon on Monday, Aug. 1., the department said.
