Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy had some surprising praise for a Capital Region pizza joint in his latest “One Bite” review.
Portnoy, 49, found himself at Cusato’s Pizzeria in Ballston Spa, about 15 miles south of his home in Saratoga Springs. He cut the pizza review video despite the rain and shared it Thursday, July 30 on YouTube.

Horror NY Highway Crash: Driver Killed After Veering Into Embankment, Police Say
A New York man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on a Capital Region highway on Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, police said.
Miguel Alejandro Mendoza Canarte, 29, of Shandaken, was traveling westbound on Interstate 890 through Schenectady around 6:20 a.m., New York State Police said.
Mendoza Canarte was behind the wheel of a 2022 Nissan Altima when he lost control, left the road, and hit an earth embankment and a support pole for an overhead sign near the Exit 6 off-ramp, investigators said.

The 20-year-old man who died in a targeted shooting that also wounded four teenagers in Westchester County has been identified by his family — and the young suspect accused of killing him now faces murder charges.
Brandon Garcia, 20, was the victim of a shooting in Yonkers at around 8:43 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, in the area of Elm Street and Palisade Avenue, according to his loved ones.
As Daily Voice previously reported, Yonkers Police said five people were struck by gunfire. Garcia suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead.

Dozens Of Fires, Injuries Spark Massive Recall Of Popular Electric Blankets
More than 175,000 heated throws and blankets are being recalled after they were linked to dozens of fires and injuries.
OCTROT issued the recall for about 178,000 electric throws and blankets, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday, July 30. The electrical cord can detach and ignite, posing serious fire, burn, and shock hazards.
The company has received 555 reports of the blankets or throws melting, sparking, or smoking. There have been at least 27 fires and 15 burn or electrical shock injuries, according to the CPSC.

NY Sex Offender’s Parole Violation Lands Him Back In Prison: Police
A New York sex offender with an extensive criminal history violated his parole terms and was locked up again, police said.
Damien M. Beayon, 41, created new social media accounts and email addresses without informing authorities, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said Sunday, Aug. 2.
Beayon, of Moreau, had previously been jailed for weapons possession and a second impaired driving offense, according to state prison records. He was re-arrested Wednesday, July 29, police said.

A new state law that took effect Saturday, Aug. 1, prohibits eateries from automatically providing single-use plastic utensils and condiment packets to customers. Instead, they'll only be provided upon request.

NY Jail Guard Attacked By Teen Prisoner, Suffers Eye And Neck Wounds: Police
A teenage Capital Region prisoner assaulted a jail guard and another inmate, police said Sunday, Aug. 2.
J’von M. Flores, 19, of Halfmoon, was behind bars in Saratoga County jail when he injured the guard in the eye, neck, chest, and leg on Tuesday, July 21, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s office said. The guard was treated at a local urgent care facility.
