Smith. Joshua D. Roman, 19, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies on Oscawana Lake Road about 5:50 p.m. Saturday for traffic violations, the sheriff said. Mount Vernon Mayor Looks To Emergency Fund For Firefighter Training MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Mount Vernon will turn to its reserve fund to pay for training the firefighters it desperately needs, says Mayor Richard Thomas, according to a report by lohud.com. According to the lohud report, Thomas wants to spend $300,000 to send six extra recruits to the county-run academy. Five trainees are already covered by the 2016 budget, the lohud story said.
