Armed Carjacking Near Newark Airport: Police An armed carjacking occurred steps away from Newark Liberty International Airport on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7, authorities said. At 6:21 p.m., police responded to 1 International Way after a man wearing a mask approached a parking attendant, said he had a gun and demanded money, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said. The suspect then took keys from the parking attendant before removing a vehicle and fleeing south on Routes 1 and 9, Miranda said. This incident remains under investigation, Miranda said.

Sussex County Man Sentenced For Unlawful Possession Of BB Gun: Prosecutor A 24-year-old Montague man learned his fate on Friday, Dec. 6, after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a BB gun and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, authorities said. Zachary Minter was sentenced to three years probation after serving 373 days in county jail, Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said. Minter must also engage in substance abuse treatment and pay $1,330 in mandatory fees and penalties, Murray said. Minter was originally arrested in August 2023 by the New Jersey State Police Special Investigations Unit, Murray said.

Two Killed In Kearny Fire: Prosecutor Two people were killed in an early morning fire in Kearny on Friday, Dec. 6, authorities said. Around midnight, the Kearny Fire Department responded to a fire at 56 Hamilton Ave. and encountered heavy fire coming from a single residence, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. New York Resident Sexually Assaulted 11-Year-Old In Jersey City: Prosecutor An 18-year-old New York man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Jersey City, authorities said. Sergio Lokhanova-Flores  met the victim online in February 2024, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. The crimes occurred on various dates between March and July 2024 when the victim was 11 and 12 years old, Suarez said. Lokhanova-Flores was arrested in Brooklyn and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, Suarez said. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

Remains Of Teaneck Soldier Killed In Vietnam Plane Crash Recovered Albert Trudeau was a 22-year-old Bergen County resident when he was killed fighting the Vietnam War in 1971. After 53 years, The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced on Wednesday, Dec. 4, they had finally found the Teaneck man's remains. In October 1971, Trudeau, a U.S. Army Warrant Officer was, assigned to the 68th Aviation Company, 52nd Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group, the DPAA said.
