Again? Sinkhole Reopens On Route 80 In Wharton: Njdot New Jersey drivers on Route 80 must be feeling deja vu. A sinkhole has reopened on Route 80 in Morris County on the morning of Monday, Feb. 10, the New Jersey Department of Transportation said.  All Route 80 eastbound lanes are closed at Exit 34-Route 15 in Wharton, NJDOT said. NJDOT crews are on site to evaluate the situation, determine the extent of the damage, and stabilize the area in order to design a repair, NJDOT sad. Pleasantville Man Who Beat Puppy In Front Of Daughter Pleads Guilty: Prosecutor A 36-year-old Pleasantville man pleaded guilty on Thursday, Feb. 6 to beating a 10-week old puppy in front of his daughter, authorities said. Gabriel Mojica pleaded guilty to animal cruelty, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated assault upon law enforcement officers, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. He faces a five-year prison sentence per the terms of his plea agreement, authorities said. Car Engulfed In Smoke On Route 517: Allamuchy Fire Department (Photos) A car fire sent plumes of smoke into the sky on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 8 on Route 517 in Warren County, authorities said. That evening, firefighters responded to a fully involved car fire at Route 517 and Lone Pine Terrace during the snowstorm, the Allamuchy Fire Department said. Multiple units responded and the fire was quickly brought under control, firefighters said.  Firefighters said they remained on scene for about an hour before clearing.

On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, Shakir Tyler fatally shot Tayeesa Webb, a 35-year-old Edison resident, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Tyler shot her after confronting her outside her residence, Ciccone said. Tyler was also convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, Ciccone said. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in May, Ciccone said.

Small Dog Rescued After Falling Through Ice In Raritan: Authorities (Photos) A small dog is on the mend after she fell through the ice at a pond in Raritan Township on Thursday, Feb. 6, authorities said. At 3:08 p.m. a rescue squad was dispatched to Sun Ridge Pond at Sun Ridge Drive and Hart Boulevard after a dog was in the water after falling through thin ice on the pond, Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad said. Two rescuers with appropriate protective equipment went out on the ice and quickly rescued the small dog, authorities said. The dog was reunited with their owner and was reported to be warming up and recovering quickly, authorities said.
